Philosophy
Notes on craft, attention, and the ethics of digital media.
We build interfaces the way a luthier shapes wood — with patience for grain and tension, attentive to where stress concentrates and where it disperses. Software is a craft of restraint as much as expression: every pixel that earns its place earns it twice, once for what it shows and once for what it leaves unsaid.
The medium is not neutral. A site is a public room. The weight of its silence, the cadence of its motion, and the discipline of its typography all communicate before the first word is read. When the form respects the reader, the reader can give the content the attention it deserves.
Three.js, shaders, and real-time rendering are not decoration here. They are tools for staging attention — the way a stage director uses lighting to draw an eye. Done well, they widen the bandwidth of communication between idea and reader. Done poorly, they are noise. We work to keep the line between the two clear.
